My Mexican Altarpiece

In which our Heroine needs Therapy.

An attempt at some creative therapy today yielded this:

My eclecticism got away from me a bit, and it ended up looking like some sort of Mexican altarpiece.  Oops.  Also, the yellow beams of light are less prevalent in real life, but I couldn’t convince my camera of that.

"Next Blog" II

In which our Heroine contemplates her Binary Existence, still.

Okay, I’m back for the second time today.  I just hit the “Next Blog” button, and here’s what I got: “dreams can come true… and look I have a cute dog…;” 3 family with kids blogs, one is LDS; two political blogs anti-Obama; a Disney artist who is into art and tech from the 1960s (atomic age); only one minister and his family blog; one teenager who has nothing better to do than write stupid things about teenage actors;  a scary blog that I only saw for a spit second as it had a link on the side labeled “queer art.”  Shouldn’t have put the tag about the ponies…  Make from this what you will, but it proves my point—we are not in control of our own lives on the internet, people!!!

What's Your Excuse?

In which our sorry Excuse for a Heroine makes T-shirts.

No, seriously.  What is your excuse? Everyone needs one.  I was using the “I have cancer” excuse with great effect to my close family and friends—sometimes jokingly, sometimes less so.  I did this for weeks before my prognosis changed.  And although I technically still have brain cancer, there are many assumed aspects of it that I don’t have to deal with.  For instance, I still have a full head of hair.  Not that a better prognosis has changed me.  Of course, I simply and swiftly began to insert “I just had brain surgery” and continued in my sorry and frankly inexcusable ways.  I guess in a way I’m luckier than the rest of you.  I have a REALLY effective excuse anytime I want.  Seriously, what can you possibly argue against?  Conversation finished.  Game over.  You lose.  I smugly win an extra life and coins rains down upon me.
What can I say?  I love winning.  And so, I have decided to memorialize all past and future wins with a commemorative t-shirt.  Why not?  Other people do 5K runs, but I survive brain surgery.

My Muse the Brain Surgery

In which our Heroine practices the ancient and venerated art of Creative Therapy.

Here are my first two finished paintings in what I hope will be a long series of work.  It is true that I have little time and energy.  However, I now have the useful excuse that I need creative therapy to deal with my issues, as if I weren’t writing enough already.  My weakness in art classes was often my lack of originality—I’m an excellent and natural copyist.  I suddenly find that I have a plethora of original material from which to choose.  See, brain surgery is slowly becoming more and more worthwhile… Anyway, I hope you enjoy the fruits of my time-consuming and expensive past-time.
